CSA - Farm Shares
HOW THE CSA WORKS
When you become a CSA member you are actually purchasing a share in the farm. Your membership fee is a integral part of our initial operational budget. By purchasing your share early in the season you help with all the costs that are needed to get the season going. We begin early, actually there is now down time, ordering seeds and filling greenhouses with seedlings. As weather permits we begin moving outside into the fields. By the time we begin selling at markets we have already accrued four months of expenses.
WHAT IS A SHARE?
Generally a share, and it's cost, is planned to meet the needs of a family of four, or two adult vegetarians with fruits and vegetables throughout the peak season. The peak season is 25 weeks, June through November. Individuals wanting to extend into the rest of the year with seasonal produce may purchase an additional amount. The FULL SHARE costs $500, this about $20 per week. We do have available 1/2 SHARES for couples.
SHAREHOLDER BENEFITS
During the peak season, about 25 weeks, you come to the Farm Store located at 10152 Valley Rd. on Bainbridge Island and pick up your produce. You start the season with a $500 balance on account.
